2003 2.2L ecotech service light, ets, stall

Hi All,

When I jump in my car and start her up in the morning everything is great until I shift into drive. When I shift into Drive and drive about 10 feet the "Service Vehicle Soon" light comes on and the engine sputters/labours and then the ETS light comes on and wants to stall and sometimes does. ABS use to come on too but has not stopped comming on.

If I got into the store and come out an hour later no problems at all, but if I go in for say 3-4 hours the same deal when I shift into drive again.

Same thing happens weather I am in drive or reverse from start/park.

Any idears, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i know this may not help at all, but it sounds like something electrical. cuz if it starts fine....shouldnt be the engine. but after it stalls/sputters whatever, does it drive fine? cuz im guessing that may rule out the tranny... and is the engine still warm after u come back an hour later? or is it totally cooled off? oh and does this all happen when the a/c is on? cuz my rpm's drop WAY low sometimes when i start the car w/ the a/c on.

HI, the car does in fact drive fine after the original sputter. I don't think it is a tranny problem at all.

As for wiring, I had a problem with the wire harness and had to fix it since the wires were all corroded and lights were not working properly.

Today when the car sputtered it didn’t stall but I turned it off about 2 minutes later then back on. No sputtering or lights on 2nd start.

Would like to get the codes but nobody around my area will do it w.o. a sizeable price tag.
