2001 Factory Alarm, not able to start
Another problem has also recently arose. I unlock the doors with the keychain remotes, get in and the car wont start. I have to be in the car, press unlock twice, then it starts. I located the remote and confirm it is a Ford alarm, a Ford stick covers the whole side. Idea what may be causing it?

Re: 2001 Factory Alarm, not able to start
I think that is normal to have to press unlock twice before it will start. I ran into several Fords like this when doing repairs and figured it out after awhile.

Re: 2001 Factory Alarm, not able to start
When I first bought the truck, it only needed to be pressed once. Now, it has to be pressed twice. At the same time this started happening, I would try to unlock with the keypad and as soon as I hit the first number, the alarm goes off. Also, when I lock/arm the car with the remote, it now chirps twice instead of once. I read somewhere that a lock may not be catching, but I dont have the 'door ajar' light on.
