I need to replace my 4x6 speakers up front in my car. The question is what are some good speakers for up there. I would like to put in 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 speakers up there in the dash but i don't think they will fit. Has anyone tried to put a different size up there or should i jsut get some 4x6 which would be fine but i want some nice ones. thanks guys

Re: speakers?
Crutchfield.com can tell you what will fit, and if you have to mod anything. I like that they also provide adapters for the new speakers to connect to factory wiring.

This may get you going in the right direction: http://www.ezinearticles.com/?Car-Au...know&id=161998 Some better brands for mass-market consumption are Boston Acoustics, Alpine, Infinity, Polk Audio, etc. Some higher end stuff is JL Audio, CDT, etc, etc. Do tons of research first, and then shop. |

Re: speakers?
If your car has concert sound II, then 5 1/4s will fit in the door enclosures. Tweeters are also located in concert sound II enclosures, right next to the 5 1/4s. My car didn't have concert sound II when I bought it, so I went out to the boneyard and picked up a set of concert sound II enclosures and covers for 5 bucks (extra cheap because they were covered in mud!) It's easy to install them to your front door panels. Stick with the 4x6s in the dash, you have very little work room for modding up to anything bigger, and I don't think it's worth the trouble of removing the dash to do that.

Re: speakers?
Another question. Would it be better to get 4" round speakers or 4X6" speakers? I could get either because they are the same price and size. thanks
