87 Ranger broken flexplate, again!

Is there something I don't know about here? The flexplate broke on my dads V-6 4x4 ranger about a year ago and now the new one is broken. Is there some super secret trick to installing them? Is there something else wrong here, maybe? Any insight would be helpful,
