Re: 97 ga 2.4 help

Waterpump on a 2.4 is a big job. Check the weep hole, make sure its what is leaking and not a gasket. There are 2 gaskets on the waterpump, one between the pump and the timing chain cover, the other gasket is between the pump and the thermostat housing. I did the waterpump on my 2.3, it was a major pain as the exhaust manifold has to come off.

Re: 97 ga 2.4 help

It's on the bottom of the water pump. Easiest way is to jack the front of the car, use stands, and crawl under the car to see the bottom of the pump. It's located on the passenger side of the motor on the back, next to the timing chain housing. You will probably need a flashlight to see up there. Good luck, make sure the car is stable so it doesn't fall on your head.
