AMT/RC/ERTL 08 Camaro

New pic from their website. If this prototype pic is anything like the FnF ones, this should be a nice model. I'm guessing, the model is based off of the 1:1 prototype, and not the production one?

Yes that is correct. How much different is the production one from the prototype?

model looks good, picture is terrible, I wish they would go back to whoever photographed there models in the 90's, they where alot nicer.

also notice the picture as been flipped around, the windshield wipers are facing the wrong way, there is no Concept RHD Camaro

This is a plastic kit due out in November.

Hopefully one of the model kit manufacturers will see fit to produce the 2008 Challenger in kit form. Perhaps we'll get an announcement at the Toy and Hobby Expo next month.

Kit looks passable. With some attention, it could probably be a stunner, especially after the aftermarket companies come through. Too bad it's the concept, and not the production vehicle, though. Still, that'll make it's way onto my list of models to do, nothin' wrong with anything that hot.

The production '09 Camaro hasn't been shown publicly yet....probably not until the '08 NAIAS or LAIAS..

Hopefully someone will do a production Camaro kit then..

I'm hoping the concept is better than AMT's most recent efforts--the 350Z and Evo look pretty dreadful. I'll probably do a couple..

Man, is it just me or is the seam from the nose-piece to the fenders way too big and pronounced? You can barely see it on the real car. Nothing a little putty won't fix, I guess.

The more I look at that photo, the more I think it's a diecast..I bet RC2 is planning a 1:18th diecast and this is a photo of it...(they've done this before---used pics of a diecast for a model kit).

Don't take too much from this very poor, very photoshopped, and horridly angled photograph. No artistry or passion in that picture whatsovever (or in the entire corporation ) I'm sure that seam can't be made as nearly-invisible as the actual car if they mold the bumper separately, but a builder can make it look better than that.

RC2 aren't doing themselves any favors with this picture, but that's par for the course with them. It's nearly impossible to get any sort of accurate idea of what the kit will be like until we see the real thing.

Re: AMT/RC/ERTL 08 Camaro

Well, the website photos on their new F & F cars were pretty indicative. Unfortunately.

At least this one looks as if it's making an attempt to look like the real car. I was worried we were gonna see the dreaded new 26.5" wheel size on this kit, too...

True, but the hood/side glass etc. are obvious photoshops as if the hood didn't even exist when the photo was taken.

You'll be amazed when you see what Brian Venable has done w/one of the F&F 350Z's...it's pretty cool with a realistic set of rims and his usual precision build and paint skills (it is a full-blown and very colorful tuner).

Re: AMT/RC/ERTL 08 Camaro

Yeah, I knew something was up with that hood.

The Z was the less botched of the two new ones, so I'm not in total disbelief about someone - particularly Brian - making something presentable out of it.

But good luck and Godspeed to anyone who tries to drag anything non-Jada out of the Evo. AMT's own Eclipse is a paragon of accuracy by comparison.

Back to the topic: cobby and unflattering as it is, the Camaro photo does hint at some vaguely redeemable new tooling - we can only hope the actual model bears this out.

Re: AMT/RC/ERTL 08 Camaro

So many people want to take that Camaro and make a Pontiac out of it anyway, that it really won't matter if the Camaro parts are 100% accurate. I do hope it's reasonably okay, as I would like to build the Camaro concept if it's not botched too badly. If it is, I'll still be able to salvage something from it that hopefully is unique
