The death of a giant:A David and Goliath story
As most of you know I was challenged by a young kid the other day. The challenge was that the kid would beat me with his fathers zo6 Corvette by atleast 3 car lenghts. Well today was the day that we raced. The young bastard was full of bs when he said his father had a z06, but he did bring his fathers 2000 c5 Corvette. It was a nice car for stock, but I was not scared of running him. He was all cocky and loud about how he was going to smoke me and embarass my "Mitsubishi Jap Ricer Car", so I stood there taking the verbal abuse smiling. The other kid who betted me still had his money on the Corvette. So we lined up on a road behind my school . Everyone in the school was watching even the teachers. We were sitting there revving our engines while the flag guy was getting ready. When he flagged, I took off like a bat out of hell. It was the most perfect launch I have ever done, I had no tire spin and I just took off. After I launched I looked in my rear view mirror to see where the c5 was. He was still spinning tires at the line. When he finally hooked he started coming after me. My shift points were flawless, I was ahead of him the whole race. All he seen was my taillights the whole race, I know he was embarassed. He probably was hearing the theme song from PINKS playing through his head. It was so beautiful I almost started crying. I beat this car by about 3 car lenghts; so I didn't need the lengths after all he did. When the race was over I pulled up to the boy who betted me, took my money, and left without saying a word. I can't wait to go to school on Monday and hear what people got to say. OH and before anybody asks, the race was a exact 1/4 mile run. We measured it out before we raced. So you can say I was David, because I was the under dog and everyone knew that I was going to get murderd in the race, but Goliath (C5 Corvette) was the one who was slain.

Hot diggity, nice race. If he had a stock C5 Vette and wasn't an excellent driver (which I would assume most kids his age aren't) I would actually think you would have the advantage. Even still, nice kill.

Re: The death of a giant:A David and Goliath story
'06 zo6 and an '00 c5 are 2 horses of a different breed...especially when you have a high 11sec car. Awesome job on smokin him! So did you actually use the 3 free car lengths or did you staart even? Either way, nice kill. Hope it was highly profitable!

Re: The death of a giant:A David and Goliath story
Yes, I was relieved. Today the boy avoided me the whole day. Everyone at school was congradulating me, and were very surprised how fast my car was.

Re: The death of a giant:A David and Goliath story
It may of been more that 3, he was behind me so I couldn't really tell. I was just saying that because he said I needed 3 lengths and he lost.
