Re: 350 engine problems

Got spark when it dies, will it restart right away, does it do this all the time hot or cold. Will it restart if you spray carb cleaner into the carb confirming it is fuel problem. You have not provided even the basic info or preliminary diagnostics for us to provide any meaningful help.

Re: 350 engine problems

sorry about not putting in the info i got side tracked but anyways it does restart after it dies i dont know its wierd like i can get the revs up to 2 grand and then after that it just quits the carb is a rebuilt one so i dont think it needs to be cleaned i havent had it in the mud yet so nothing is dirty

Blocked in line filter, bad fuel pump, kinked fuel line ,filter in tank clogged, lots of possibilities here. Some carbs have a filter right in the inlet fitting but again, we don't know the carb is, slow down here and think about what a total stranger online needs to know to provide help.

Re: 350 engine problems

the carb is a quadrajet 4 barrel and the motor is a 350 throttle body converted into a carburated with a inline fuel pump the filter shouldnt be clogged its all brandnew and the lines arent kinked. I just dont know what it is it will start and run fine at idle - 2 gs and then when you go to mash the gas to hear the open headers it dies i just went to my buddies and got another carb and it still does the same thing maybe i should trash the motor? i have a 400 small block i can put in it i dont know im getting so frustrated that i just want to burn the freaking thing

Well that mashing-the-gas thing is kind of important. It could simply be a case of the secondary air valve needing to be readjusted. If it gets too much air too soon, the mixture will lean out and the engine will fall on its face.
