here is another visible engine.. this does not have motor.. l can manually rotate it.. but it works better than the electric ones.. l can turn this as fast as l can like real engine.. l think looks pretty cool and this was a lot more realistic than hemi. l am about to build another visible engine HEMI 426 RACE ONLY.
anyway.. here are some photos.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Visible V-8 Engine! COMPLETED! *PICS*
Now THAT brings back memories! I didn't even know they still made this, I must go get me one!
I got one of those for Christmas when I was 10 - I thought it was the bomb. Good job, lookin' great! Still trying to figure out what they based that on, though. Edited to add that they've changed it a little. The one I had came with a plastic manual tranny case, and the engine had an electric motor that mounted in the starter that actually turned it over. The batteries, if memory serves, were placed inside the tranny case. The hand crank didn't exist. The 'spark plugs' were also little grain-of-wheat light bulbs, painted red, that ran off the distributor (which had a working rotor to distribute battery power to the 'plugs').

Re: Visible V-8 Engine! COMPLETED! *PICS*
From what I remember, the cranking was slow, something like .5 RPM.
EDIT! Just figured out what the thing was based on! The 1949-1953 Olds Rocket, the original OHV V-8.

Re: Visible V-8 Engine! COMPLETED! *PICS*
Memories........ I had one of the electric ones when I was 6, took my father and I 3 weeks to build it and took my brother 5 minutes to destroy it when we were not looking. I saw one in a hobby store here a few years ago, should have grabbed it.

At first glance, it looks like you had a push rod through the block.
But it was just the dip stick. Nice job. |
