Molded in belts

I'm in the process of building Tamiya Jaguar XJR9-LM. The seat has molded in belts, which I want to remove and replace. Any good tips on removing them. I've tried sanding and scrapping with little luck due to the curve of the seat. Is there a better way, or should I just percivier?

Lotus_man,
If you have a dremel, it would make it a lot easier and quicker, just take off small amounts at a time, you can always even things up with putty. If you don't have a dremel, then I think you are stuck with persevering....

A Dremel or any motor tool is by far the best way, there are plenty of types available and some at a fraction of the cost of Dremel which are fine for model makers who are likely to use them very little.
