Thumbs up $4.89 Head Gasket Repair, Done!

Hello you all. I posted on here a couple of times and have read many posts. I bought an old 86 yoda pickup last year for $200 drove it for about 8 months before the engine blew. Replaced the engine with a 1984 22R and everything was fine up until last week. I blew the bottom rad hose, well it was cracked and leaking. I am not a mechanic but I have switched motors, transmissions etc in my younger days, so I know not to let the engine run dry and overheat. I got the bottom rad hose installed and the truck was fine for about 3 days then I noticed a leak but couldn't tell where from. When I parked in parking lots a couple of times, I see it dripping from the flywheel inspection plate so I am thinking its the headgasket for sure. In goes a can of Bars Leaks sealer. Next day, problem solved. No more leaking or heating up. As I lost most of my antifreeze when I did the rad hose I am going to flush the system, install new antifreeze and put another Bars Leaks in it again. According to their sales pitch, Bars Leaks is installed in alot of newly manufactured cars/trucks as a rust inhibitor and lubricator. Saved myself about $600 if I would have had to go to the repair shop as I wouldn't have been able to do the job myself. So someone may want to give that a try under a similar situation not that I am pushing the product but it worked for me.

Bar's Leak is only a temporary fix and maybe good for you. I used it in a Volvo motor with a minor headgasket leak and it lasted about a year before the big clouds of steam came out of the tail pipe. At that point I had to replace the gasket. Be aware such products can clog radiators and heater cores.
