tC vs civic si

so im driving home from school this afternoon and i spot this black early 90s civic si hatch cruisin about 45. i speed up a little to get a better look. appeared stock. no fart can no flashy rims. just a bunch of stickers on the rear window and bumper. i glance at the interior: 3 gauge pods on the a-pillar, two tachs ??? lol and what appeared to be a "poor man's rollcage". It was some high school aged kid, looked like he just got his lisence and a similar lookin passengar. They both saw me taking a look, so he gave it a few revs and took off. i gave chase and we both met at the next light. traffic was on the light side, especially for 4:00pm. i was undecided if he was a ricer or not, so i decided a test was in order, the conversation is as follows:
me: hey whats the rollcage for?
him: cuz its fast...
me: oh really? you must have swapped in the new rb series engine huh?
him: yeah it's fully built with a turbo, thats what the gauges are for
me: damn that turbo must be running at what 25psi???
him: nah 40 psi
(bear in mind its a very long light)
me: wana run?
him: well youre a waste of gas, but ok

we both catch a red light a couple streets down. i seriously thought he would have got me off the line, those early si weigh like what 2100lbs or so? well i took him off the line and i took it up to 85 and shut it down. i had about 2 cars on him most of the time. when we met a couple lights down i had the biggest smile on my face...poor guy wouldnt even look over lol..

Re: tC vs civic si

I have no idea how many times I've killed a car with gauges just to find out he wasn't boosted, they are for shit like direction and temperature (air, like, outside). Good kill, way to put rice boy in his place.

Re: tC vs civic si

nice kill, are you sure it wasn't his massive wheel spin that put ahead? i mean 40 psi on a FWD on street tires would be smoking hte tires to 5th gear lol.

anyways yeah kids these days are on drugs. who are they trying to fool? little 16 year old girls? my car has no guages visible from the outside.

Re: tC vs civic si

my car has stock gauges!!!!!!! does that count? im thinking of getting A/F ratio, oil temp, and transmission oil temp. but i think it'll be waste unless i buy like cams or something.

Re: tC vs civic si

my buddy from i and work were working on a list that includes all the reasons you would have gauges without running boost:
a gauge for the outside temperature
a gauge for how many watts your system has
a gauge for how many passengers are in your car
likewise, a gauge for how much extra weight the car is carrying
a gauge that counts how many other ricers are within a 100ft radius
a gauge that counts how many other gauges you have

please feel free to add any =)

Re: tC vs civic si

go tC's!

actually, the SC is available for the automatic transmission.
I will have it in 9 months from now - along with the supporting mods. I/H/E/. [gotta pay off some college bills first].
