Re: 94 grand am abs light
Not sure about getting the codes on it. However, past experience, ABS light showed up on our 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. I cleared it by disconnecting the battery and the two electrical plug abs connector overnight and cleared the ABS light. The ABS light would keep coming up anyway. I was clearing for a week and then I got stranded, my alternator was toasted. I replaced the Alternator and I did not have the ABS light coming on anymore.
This is what I have discovered so far based on my experience. When the ABS light keeps coming on by itself for no reason and if you clear the ABS light and keeps coming back, more than likely that the alternator is failing. Have your alternator tested at Autozone. You don't have to remove the alternator to test it and they can also test your battery as well without removing them. |

Re: 94 grand am abs light
Everything Goes Off When Started But Amber Light Goes On When You Start Rolling. Poss. Bad Sensor But Need To Get Code And I Do Not Want To Spend Big $$$ For A Meter. Was Hoping I Could Get Code Another Way Like Blinking Dash Lights????

Re: 94 grand am abs light
You've got a '94.. Can't you use the jumper trick, or does it not pull ABS codes? It sounds like a sensor problem. You could do a visual of the sensors and wiring and probably find the problem yourself..

Re: 94 grand am abs light
You can flash ABS codes on OBD 1 systems but not if its a hybrid OBD1 , does anyone know if 94 was a hybrid system in the Grand am?

Re: 94 grand am abs light
94 and 95 are hybrid systems. Sucks, I have a 95 and have to have the dealer get codes for me.

Re: 94 grand am abs light
willyrazz, you can try to extract the code with the flashing light, some 94's and 95s are OBD1 not a hybrid. Most are but not all!
Heres the link with the proceedure. Grand AM trouble codes I can tell you right now, One of Your wheel speed sensor(s) are most likly no working, indicated by the ABS light. If they hav never been changed, I'd change both.
