Service engine soon light. Engine codes

I have a 1992 MGM. I took it in for emissions test saturday, and it failed. I found a vaccuum leak in the PCV line. Fixed that, and passed, but only by 1/10 of a point. High HC. After the e-check, i cleared the computer, and drove it until the check engine light came back on. The codes i got were 542, (Fuel pump circuit open), and 332, (Insufficient EGR flow). I think i can probably figure out the 332, but the 542 is kinda bothering me. The car runs fine most of the time, but sometimes it wants to stall when idling. Any help on any of these 2 issues would be appreciated.

These cars are funny when you get the egr problem solved recheck. It could have caused a stall and set the other code. Also check for any loose grounds as these can cause problems. If you get it after working on it try a new fuel pump relay. Otherwise you need a wiring diagram to ohm the wires once you have the color of the wires and the place on the computer plug you can use a small gem clip to insert in the plug and ohm the wire to the relay.
I really think it is more likely to have been caused by a stall.
On the egr check for a plugged vacuum fitting on the motor check the vacuum to the TAD I think sensor any is an electric valve which supplies vacuum to the EGR. With a vacuum gage you have to really gun the motor to get it to open. A bad egr valve is very common with over travel which sets an EGR position sensor code. Buy a new one not a junk yard part. I have tried to save my son money and had to get a new one anyway. Make to clean out where the EGR mounts.

Re: Service engine soon light. Engine codes

if you have a 4.6 engine they are noted for low egr flow, there is a passage that clogs up in the intake, as i found out when i bought my gm. check the past threads on this matter, there is a lot of info on this in past threads. if that is your problem it only takes about an hour to fix.
