having a wee bit of a problem.

So my lovely 91 GSX has decided to not like me at all and never run. Here's what's wrong.

It started when I was driving it home from having picked it up I was coming off the interstate and the RPMS dropped real low and the car started to die well it did die. But I was able to start it right back up and continue on. Well now it's doing that same thing.

I can start the car right up and it will idle fine, as I have sat there and let it idle for ten minutes and the car idles like a champ and I get no lights. But as sooon as I start to drive somewhere the car will die on me. The rpms drop real low, all the lights come on and the car just dies. And alot of times I won't be able to get it started again until it sits for a bit. Than it will start up just fine but if I try to drive same problem. Now the wire than runs the tps sensor was frayed so I replaced that but it still does the same thing. So anyone have any idea's as to what it could be? I really need to get this car running so I can drive it around. I'm tired of it being dead.

Could be a fuel delivery problem under a load. But I have no clue where to start diagnosing it. Maybe you could check the injectors? Does it do ok when it's sitting still but you rev it?

Really wish I could help out...it still sounds like fuel delivery like the the injector can't operate under load. Have you checked them yet? Are the plugs and wires all good? I wish I could find my haynes manual...

Plugs, wires are brand new. So is the fuel filter.

Sounds to me like the CAS is shot... They will idle fine but once you put a load on the motor it freaks out and doesn't know what to do.

Re: having a wee bit of a problem.

When i first bought my talon, it did the exact same thing. I would idle PERFECTLY, but after I drive it around (even if I move it 10 feet) and then push in the clutch (to slow down) the car would bump down to ~200 RPm and then die.

Turned out to be the PCV valve, mine was completely shot. I could blow right through it in both directions. Changed it with an OEM one and has never done it since. Counting that it is like $5 from the dealership, it will not hurt to change.

Did you get lights when it died, like the CEL and such?
