white smoke from vavle cover

I got a friend with a 95 protege dx. She has just replaced the throttle body sensor and the MAP sensor. It hasn't been running for about 6 weeks. Today after replacing the sensors she went to go start it and white smoke was coming out from between the vavle cover and the head right below the oil fill hole. What could be causing the white smoke? The smoke wouldn't stop and just kept smoking and when trying to move the car it would try to die. Any ideas? The check engine light is NOT on either. THanks

Re: white smoke from vavle cover

It sounds like coolant may be leaking on the exhaust. Did you look at the coolant level and check the oil dipstick for indications of water? Any signs of fuel leaks around the throttle body? Why were the sensors replaced? We need more information make any useful suggestions.

Did you use carborator cleaner. It will give white smoke that lingers for about 5 minutes when you first start it up.
