Re: need OEM cats for a 2002 eclipse 3.0 GT
Why would someone take the cats off their car? Does it free up some extra hp? Make it louder? I live in south carolina and we dont have to have our cars inspected, so should I take my cats off when I get a full catback exhaust?

yes, taking off the cats will give you a little more power, make the car louder, and gets rid of the rotten egg smell from the exhaust under WOT. There are several possible problems with doing this though such as a constant check engine light, and possible emissions problems. If you do it right, and get an O2 delete sensor you should be good.
