1999 Sunfire GT?
Alright, I'm thinking about buying a 1999 Sunfire GT for $2 800CAN. The car will be safetied and e-tested by the dealer. The problem however is that the safety is only valid for 30 days meaning I have to license the vehicle in that time frame. I can't license the vehicle though because I'm not insured and do not plan to be until the car is completely paid off which will be about 4 months from now. So if I buy this car it will be safetied but it will sit in my garage for 4 months. My question is, what are the chances of something else going wrong while the car sits? Thanks to whoever can help me.

Re: 1999 Sunfire GT?
4 months is not too long for a car to sit, and nothing will go wrong with it.
Just disconnect the battery while it sits. Also, you should drive it about once a month just to warm up the engine and rotate the wheels. So, once a month, turn it on, wait 2 or 3 minutes for the engine to warm up, then drive it around the block or up and down the street just very briefly. |

Re: 1999 Sunfire GT?
Thank you for the reply tonto. I am going to follow through with buying this vehicle. I called the dealer and told him I would buy it for 2800. He told me to come in tomorrow and he thinks were going to do something. Hopefully everything works out; I love driving this car!
If I do get it I will do everything you said. I won't have plates for it though so I'll have to be pretty discreet while driving it just up and down the block. Any other tips to keep the car repair shop free when I can afford it's bail?? |

Re: 1999 Sunfire GT?
Good luck with it. If it doesn't have plates then I would just drive it only right in front of your house, that way if the cops see you, you can say you weren't really driving, you were just moving it temporarily out of your driveway to park in front of your house in order to make more space, or something like that.
I can't think of anything else you need to do to the car while it sits. My dad used to stuff a rag into the muffler and raise the car up on blocks, but his car sat for a whole year, so I don't think you need to do that.
