Need an Si engine

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had a D16A6 for sale or if you know where i could get a decent one for cheap. I need a new engine cuz im not gettin enough out of the D15B2. An Si will do, i was thinkin about a ZC but i dunno if it would be too much work for me. We'll see, but for now any help would be appreciated

If you are prepared to do a swap to an Si engine, you might as well go with a D16z6 or D16y8. Both are SOHC VTEC 1.6L, and are almost identical to the D16a6, but with 125hp instead of the Si's 108hp (the specs are almost the same as a ZC). I found one at my local junk yard for $900 it was a D16y8 from a '98 EX, and had less than 8000 miles on it. As far as the swap goes, it'd almost be exactly the same as bolting in an Si, except you'd also need a vtec switch and you'd need a D16z6/y8 distributor (plus all the other stuff required to go from D15b2 to D16a6...

Hope that made sense...

Very good advice about the d16z6/y8. If I were you I would call up some of the import shops in your area that specialize in motor swaps. I know the ones in my area have spare d16s of all models/years laying around from people that have swapped to dohc that they usually just take to junkyards for almost nothing. For example, this one in my area takes there d16z6s to a junkyard for 100 a piece, but they will sell them to me for 200 a piece. Not quite as good a deal as that junkyard is getting, but you cant beat a sohc vtec engine for that price. Only thing is they are out right now, just some 1.6 non vtecs.

You can do a zc swap with no problem. It'll just bolt on to your stock tranny. I would suggest using the si tranny instead of using the zc cause u don't have to change the axles. The sohc is a good swap also but remember that u have to convert ur obd0 to obd1 or 2. Either way all those swaps mentioned above is a good choice...not the best choice but good enough! :finger:

I live in upstate New York so there arent too many shops around me. Ill keep lookin hard. Yea, now im thinkin of gettin the D16Y8 cuz it would be a lot easier to find with much less miles on it. If i cant find anything im sure ill turn to you guys tho. Will all of these engines be a direct bolt in? The most complicated thing about the swap would be wiring for the vtec right? Thanks a lot for the help everyone.
