Since June when I turn steering wheel left I can hear humming noise coming from steering column . Turn to the right doesn't create the sound. Any idea what's wrong . Thanks Chuck Oldsmobile Intrigue 1999 |

Re: Steering noise
Is this happening when driving down the road or stopped? If when driving down the road i would guess bad wheel bearing.

Re: Steering noise
hello fellow intrigue owner.
Mine has 172K, 3.8. Any ways, I sounds like your rack and pinion my have suffered inadequate fluid pressure from the pump. Is your P/S pump whiny? Lift the front end an relieve the stress on the wheels and test. Even if you flush the damage is there, but flushing is a good idea. I have had since new a clunking in my u-jointed streeing shaft. I regularly, say every 50K remove in and from the dealer for 25 bucks get a "special" tube o lube. I fill the linkage and re install. I'm, a former wrench, retired to raise my kids. Quote:
