What's is going on with my car???

I drive a 93 chevy cavalier z24. It has over 150,000 miles on it. I got a tune up last week. The next day after my tune up my car started just fine but when I put it in reverse my car died. Why did it do this?? I took it back to the guy and it did nothing so he said nothing is wrong with my car. Do I just need to let my car sit idle for a few mintues before I back up??? Also, I have a rough idle when I sit at a stop light/sign etc. Is that normal for older cars?? And after I back up and get moving when I try to acclerate it seems like it takes awhile before it will kick in and go. But sometimes it will just kick in and go. Does that mean I have a problem with my transmission? Every time I fill up with gas I put Chemtool into my gas tank and that helps with that problem. Or is there something wrong with the fuel injection?? Please give me any input. Thanks

Your car's idle is weird in how it works. If the battery is disconnected for a bit it has to re-learn idle. There's a procedure, but long story short, stick it in your driveway, pull the e-brake, and leave it in reverse for 5 minutes. Should fix the problem.

Oh yeah, and don't put additives in your gas... just trust me. Run premium if you need to clean it.

And when you do this make sure you sit in the car just to be on the safe side in case your e-brake fails for some reason.

Why not use additives?? I put fuel injector cleaner in my car because it was bogging and shooting smoke and that stuff cleared it all up. After I used it there was no smoke and no more bogging.

Re: What's is going on with my car???

I used to own a 93 cavalier z-24. There are many things that you can check. You could check to make sure that they changed the wires and make sure that they are plugged in all the way. I read that the Bosch plugs don't work well in certain cars. They could have changed 5 of the 6 plugs. Change your air filter, fuel filter. Check the idle speed control, fuel injectors(if the car is running rough all the time). If the car ran rough when it was damp out, then it could be the coil packs. The last thing I could think of is there could be a vacuum leak.

Nothing good, either. And several can cause all kinds of problems with fouling up your plugs.

Meh, like I always say, do what ya want. I'm just pre-emptively reserving my right to an "I-told-you-so."
