Exclamation 90 Camaro wont start

I have a 1990 Camaro RS and most of the time i have trouble starting it. I have replaced the starter many times and the problem is still there. Sometimes if i bang on the starter with a hammer and have someone turn the key at the same time it will start. I have checked the battery and it is good. I have replaced the negative cable and still the same problem. What could it be? PLEASE HELP!

Re: 90 Camaro wont start

A starter [rbolem that requires it to banged on all the time would point to excessive heat. Are you sure don't have a restticted exhaust (power fall off when warm?).

Also, it could just be coiincidence that each time you 'bang' on it, you're correcting a poor connection

Re: 90 Camaro wont start

ever tried shorting across the terminal to see if its a key problem instead of a starter problem? if it starts right up it might be like wright said a bad connection OR a ignition problem..
