Unhappy 96 Blazer 4x4 Trouble

Ok, I've run out of ideas for this thing. It's had a horrible skip for over 3 months. I took it in to a dealership after having new plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor button, fuel filter, and they finally told me it had a bad injector. I've had a #2 injector put on and then was told that it was the #5 injector that was bad. After putting the #5 injector on, the Blazer seemed to run alot better for about an hour, then the same thing started again. I went to Auto Zone and was told that the O2 sensor would make the injectors go bad, so I forked out another $60.00 for the sensor. Still the vehicle is running like crap. There is a STRONG gas smell also. Any ideas on what could possibly be wrong with this thing? I have totally run out of ideas (and money...lol).

Re: 96 Blazer 4x4 Trouble

Here's a link to show you the injection on 96up and if you read thru you will see the ref to full replacement of it to the newer MFI that is cheaper than piecing yours back together - individual injectors, the main body, the pressure regulator and labor!
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=559014
As for an O2 sensor making an injector go bad - thats a new one on me - only effects mixture and how much is injected. The PCM controls the pulse width/duration. Fuel smell may mean a leak in the injection under the upper intake black plastic cover where the pressure reg sits on the main injection and the 6 injectors which have plastic lines also sit. Or look down on top of the engine where the 2 metal fuel lines bolt into the injector assembly and see if gas leaking - there are several o-rings that they may have pinched on assembly and also feel behind the 2 metal lines at the rear of engine by distributor where they also have o-rings and screw into the fuel lines to the tank. Then possible cat converter is clogged due to excessive fuel in exhaust. Dealer should be able to get this right!

Look at the link that muddog provided, its very good on this type of problem. I would say you have an internal leak, regulator, injector again, etc, etc. If its smelling like gas, its gettting to much gas as a result of it leaking and beyond the control of the PCM.
