estimated cost?
'94 88 LSS w/ 162k
ok, i was wondering if any of you could sum this all up for me. i need a new timing chain and sprockets (i hear clanging when under load?), catalytic converter, and pretty much every brake line in my car replaced. if i were to go somewhere to have this all done... what do you think the damage is? i don't feel like messing arund with the timing chain, don't trust myself to do the brakes, and don't have a welder for the cat. ugh. thanks, rob |

any way i look at it, it's going to be around $300 including labor, excluding the brake work. |

Re: estimated cost?
Eeesh...more than $300. Well, depends on the shop though. As for my local rates:
Timing chain, grear, damper, new camshaft interuptor magnet (glue it in!): $65 Labor to replace: $200-400 Ebay Cat converter: $60 Labor to install said Cat: $50-75 Brake lines: Eww...a lot. Mainly labor though but You might get lucky and find a shop that will do everything you need at once (and you may get a slightly more "wholesale" price...maybe). Other than the brake lines, all of these have had to be done on either my car or my brother's car (90 olds 88) by the local mechanics (in general they are pretty cheap for the area too).
