List of things wrong with my 94

Got bored, so I figured I'd list all the things wrong with my 1994 Bravada. Don't get me wrong, this thing has served me well for 2 yrs, still runs and looks great, but despite careful and limited driving, a lot of problems have surfaced over these 2 yrs.

1. Heater core leak (fixed)
2. Windshield washer dead
3. Shocks are horrible, but are the original
4. sagging rear springs
5. sinking on right front side
6. play in steering
7. spongy brakes
8. squeaky suspension
9. paint on hood and roof cracking and fading despite care from waxing and polishing
10. Not car's fault, but tires are alreayd cracking on sidewall
11. slow oil leak from lines, no obvious dripping, more like oozing out at a very slow rate.
12. running hotter than it used to, though since I swithced to 10W-30, seems to be running cooler.
13. Transfer case clunk when accelerating out of turns, or after braking then accelerating without coming to a complete stop.

I still love this thing, and I want ot fix it up, but I do not have th means, and I don't want to spend a ton of money having it fixed. Thinking about selling it, then getting a PT Cruiser.

Other than the transfer case noise, it doesn't look like anything expensive or difficult to take care of.

I guess the big question is are you making payments on the Bravada and can you pay off the loan by selling it? if it's paid for you can get most everthing on your list fixed for less than 12 months payments and insurance on a PT Cruiser.

You could always park it then bring it out in really bad snowy weather and enjoy the benefits of the Smartrak. In semi-retirement, you can fix it a little at a time...it could even be out of service a long time while accumilating needed parts from different sources if need be.
I kept my '92 because I was not offered a fair trade in value...best decision in a long, long time.

Actually, I paid the out the door price in cash, so I own it. I think the transfer case clunk can be fixed with new fluid, its not that bad, and its the only thing that has been happening sine I bought it. It hasn't gotten any worse in 2 1/2 yrs. Plus, I have to drive about 2 hrs to get to any snow around here (which I do every winter). That is the cool part about So Cal, you can go snowboarding and surfing in the same day.

Re: List of things wrong with my 94

Plus, I paid 4,000 for it, when it was easily worth 5,500, so I would sell it for 3,000 + (once I have some things fixed), and many 01 Pt Cruisers around here go for around 6-7,000. So I wouldn't lose a lot of money on the deal. Anyways, I'm leaning towards just having it fixed. I'm taking it to Pepboys for their free inspection of the enitre car, and free quote. These have to be the only guys in town that actually stand by their quote, even if it ends up beign over. Hell, when my dad had brakes done, the actually gave him a $20 dollar rebate. Their labor costs are fair, and their parts care cheaper than anyone else, because they have immediate access to them, no ordering. But everytime we've had something done by a dealer, they gave us half-assed results, and high costs.
