BCM, door switch, ideas?

Got in the truck this morning, started it up, and the dome light stayed on. So did the lights under the dash that illuminate the floor. So, I stopped, checked all the doors, they were all shut. Hit the dome override button, and nothing happened. The button still works, because hitting it four times killed the headlights. The door locks are acting weird too. If I put the truck in gear with the door open, they will lock automatically at the normal speed. If the door is shut, they lock as soon as it's put in gear. If I unlock them stopped at a light, they won't lock when I get moving. Everything else seems normal. The locks lock with the alarm remote (which is aftermarket btw), but the light now stays on locked, running, whatever. The light was definitely not on before I unlocked it this morning too.

Re: BCM, door switch, ideas?

Probably the Dome Sensor switch in one of your doors. My Passenger side door wouldn't let the lights come on in the truck. Turned out the Assembly was broken on the door latch.

It's an easy replacement, about 1 hour to swap it out and put it back together. Can't remember how much it cost though. $60 seems to ring a bell.

Tear open your door panel and see if you have a fried sensor....

Re: BCM, door switch, ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I went out to look at the door. Figured while I was messing around in the truck, I'd do some dash stuff I had to do while I was at it. I recently replaced the worn out electronic shock absorbers with regular ones, so I no longer need the Ride Control button. I'm making that spot an Aux-In connector for my new head unit.

Anyway, I digress. While I had the bezel off, I pulled out the lightswitch/domelight/dimmer unit just to check the back connector. It was fine, but while I was holding the switch in my hand, the dome light clicked off! Hit the Dome Override button a few more times to test it, and now it seems to work fine again. Apparently it will soon need to be replaced.

Re: BCM, door switch, ideas?

I'm not certain if the trucks have similar remote modules, but I've had a Buick that had "flakey" problems with body control which turned out to be the remote module in the RR door being water soaked.
