School Lectures

I just started college and I have tons of lectures. I was wondering if there was a program I could use that would record lectures for me on my laptop.

I know I could just get a mic and download some recorder crap but is there a program that actually does this and with good quality?

Stupid question?

Re: School Lectures

I know most professors dont like people to record their lectures, also, think about it, are you actually going to listen to the same boring lecture again? I know I wouldnt.

Re: School Lectures

All my teachers said they suggest that we record their lectures because thats all the tests will be based off of.

It was just a thought I dont really think it would help me all that much I might just stick to taking notes as fast as possible and hoping I got enough for a C

Re: School Lectures

I tried recording the lectures for my accounting classes since there is so much stuff said in class that helps explain and complement the notes. Problem was I never listened to them after class

Depending on the professor, notes were often available online but verbal reinforcement helps alot too.

Re: School Lectures

there is a kid in 3 of my classes that always records the lectures. he comes in sets up his laptop and his mic. sitst there and punches a button and away it goes. when class is over everyone is outta the room except this goof. he is winding up the mic cord. waiting for his computer to shut down. if you really want to record the lectures, buy the 30 dollar tape recorder at radio shack. honestly though, recording a lecture is boring and pointless in my eyes. i don't want to hear the lecture the first time, so why would i want to hear it a second?

what weird ass school you go to???

just get a recorder and use that. no reason to spend more money on a digital recorder so you can have it on your comp. if you need that, open the file in WMP, Real, or w/e. are you listening for whispers of people or his lecture cause quality isnt a neccesity for lectures.

not to be harsh, but yes, it is a stupid question.

Re: School Lectures

yeah sorry, ive just remember people asking me this when i started. just record it or be like normal people, take notes.

most people type faster than they write, so bring a laptop and have at it. it's bad enough i have to sit through a lecture once, but to record it and let it go again, ugh!

Re: School Lectures

yea theres this girl that type all of her notes. but shes also a history major. i dont like history unless its war or scandals so this california history doesn't really interest me so i thought maybe if i listened to it a second time i could get interested. but notes are probably the way for me to go.

i just got a new laptop (on it now) so i'll prob just start takin it to class and type up my notes etc.

this one kid always just takes pics of what the teach writes on da board, thats to annoying though every few seconds you see a bright ass flash that really fucks wit your eyes but the teacher just lets him keep doing it.

Re: School Lectures

um, if you have discipline, bring headphones. helps you concentrate, just dont play something distracting. that way when youre typing, you take in what it is you type.

this only goes for a professor that does a lot of overhead or where what he says isnt key. if somethings are, keep the volume low, cause a lot of them will say something 5 times and hint you need to know it.

thats what i did. if you dont have a built in wireless card, dont bring the external with you. the internet aka AF will distract you. Its bad enough youll have music.

but yeah, type. youll learn how to seperate class notes with what the teach says etc. im oddly organize so i have a lot of methods. good luck
