More Air-Better Gas Milege?

1993 Plymouth Sundance-2.2L Engine-4 Cylinder.
If I take Air Hose off, that goes from Air Filter to Driver Side Fender, and install a K&N Filter with a short air Hose, will my Car get more air,if so, will my Gas millege improve,is it worth it?
I would be sucking Air from the Engine Compartment, instead
of underneath the Fender.
Thanking everyone who answers,in advance.

yes your car will get more air and gas mileage. it will also get a lil more hp. so in my opinion it would be worth it.

I do not see it getting better gas mileage.
The pcm controls fuel and air mix.
A true cold air intake sucks forced outside air from fender or grille area.
Which your oem filter setup already is.
But more air or hot underhood air may even make matters worst.
