catytalic converters/straight pipes?

i was wondering, i have my factory cats on. i can't decide between hi-flow cats or stragiht pipes. i know hi-flow cats are expensive and i can just make a pipe. Which is worth getting. I dont think we have emision laws in iowa. how much horse gain is this going to make, and is it worth it?

Re: catytalic converters/straight pipes?

when deleting the cats, u sometimes loose hp, and it will make the ses light come on in some cases. You can get magnaflow hi-flow ones that are universal for cheep.

Re: catytalic converters/straight pipes?

You won't gain much, if any between a high-flow cat and a straight pipe.
I had to get one installed for emissions last year at a muffler shop and they use high flow honeycomb cats for my application. He said he could put up a straight pipe in place of the cat and there would be really no difference as far as performance. Sound maybe.
I consider them pretty much equal versus factory cats.
