crashed car coolant is foamy

i hit a pole like a stop sign size. it asnt a stop sign though anyways i smashed the bumper and pushed the rad a bit and the rad suport is bent. i did this on friday and went camping till today (monday) and my coolant light has been on for a few days before. so i checked it when i got back and it was a light green color, so i was just going to throw some water in it till i fix everything and then it was bubbling up with foam not a lot but still kind of foamig. so did something get in there when i crashed or what?

Re: crashed car coolant is foamy

Depending on what car you have, some you can't put any water in the coolant.

If you don't know what forums you're in or don't know the answer to the question, don't post. ANY and every dsm runs regular green coolant with a mix of water.

Neef, where was the bubbling, inside the overflow bottle, or inside the rad. cap? Take a 50/50 mix of green coolant and water and fill up the rad. and overflow bottle and you should be fine. Also check the radiator for leaks, you might have a leak. The coolant light means that you're low on coolant so if you smashed the rad., you need to get that fixed, but always keep it full of coolant or you could seriously damage your motor.

That first comment was meant for ponchonutty.

Anyways, it was most likely bubbling because you were trapping air when you were pouring in the coolant/water. As long as it's not a constant bubble then you should be okay. Just fill it up with coolant and be on your merry way!

Yep, usually when you add in water and or coolant, it bubbles just like when you fill up a sink then pull the plug. Thank you for using the correct subforums, describing your problem accurately, and using somewhat good grammar .

Re: crashed car coolant is foamy

I had my coolant bubble and steam when I was really low on coolant. There was a hole in the tank and it dripped without me knowing. When it got really low, the tank filled up with foam and steamed all crazy. Then the car over heated. Maybe a leak somewhere? Not enough coolant?
