Car engine not what it used to be...
I suppse 168,000 miles does that to you, but still...
99 Grand Am SE 3.4L. Only performance enhancer thus far is a cold air intake I got from ChromeIntakes on ebay with the K&N filter. Anyway, when I really gun it, it doesnt rev normally. It revs but it seems like it's kinda stuttering, as if it's not smoothly accelerating or not getting gas or anything at a constant rate. I don't know how to explain this any better... I guess kinda like if you've been on a riding mower and it's running out of gas, but not to that extent... and it still accelerates very fast, but it's just not a SMOOTH acceleration... anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks! |

Re: Car engine not what it used to be...
I don't know what maintenance you have performed on your car but you may want to do some. First, plugs and wires, new coils, new fuel filter and finally if you have not changed it the timing belt may be stretched to the point where you are not getting max performance. You may also want to put a can or Restore in the oil. This will help to level out compression by coating the walls with the additive and thus improve performance somewhat. Other possibilities are partially blocked cat causing a restrictive exhaust or just plain wear. Hope this helps.
