All-Season Tire Recommendation
Hey everyone. I have looked at some of the tire recommendations that came up in a search, but many of them seemed to be for aftermarket wheels (which I do not have). One thread mentioned looking into what Consumer's Reports says, and that meant looking at the Falken Ziex... which I had on a previous car and they died within 10,000 miles.
I know my Forester isn't exactly the same as the Impreza, but I'm new to AWD, and I don't know what direction I should go for all season tires. I live in Pittsburgh, so we get snow, but usually not a TON of it. I want something that has a solid tread pattern for the snow we do get (so ultra high performance tires is out of the running). I don't drive very aggressively (anymore) so again, the super summer performance isn't needed. Like I said, the Falken's did wrong by me last time, so I am not looking to get those again. I have been told differing stories on the BF Goodrich Traction T/A's... some stories rave about them, others say they are crap. And as if I'm not picky enough, I'm HOPING to get a treadwear rating of at least 500 (but in the 400s will do if that's all I can get ouf of it) Oh, and incase anyone cares, my size is 215-60-16 and of course I am looking at H-rated and above (since no one around here will mount tires that do not match the speed rating of the stock tires - which are Yokohama G900s with a lovely 320 treadwear rating)

Re: All-Season Tire Recommendation
We had Yokohama Geolanders on our '01 Forester and they served extremely well in the PA winter.
We put them on the car just after we moved to Indiana, PA in the fall and they were great right through the winter, including a couple of trips into Pittsburgh in the winter after some decent snowfalls.

Re: All-Season Tire Recommendation
Hey Ray! Thanks for the quick response!
I HATE the Geolandars that are on there... they SUCKED last winter. Yet another reason why I am looking for tires at 23k miles is b/c they are down to about 4/32 since they have a crappy treadwear rating. I HATE shopping for tires, so if I can get tires with a high treadwear rating, I won't have to buy new tires as often.

Re: All-Season Tire Recommendation
I think I've settled on the Goodyear TripleTread (or whatever they're called). I've read some pretty good reviews of them, and I'm hoping that whoever puts them on won't notice they are only T-rated. They have some awesome reviews for the snow, too, which is great.
I'll try to remember to post back when I get a few thousand miles on them and let you know what I think. Thanks for the help! (Like I said, tire shopping is stressful for me, so thank god it's almost over!)

Re: All-Season Tire Recommendation
I thought I'd update again... I have about 5 miles on the tires so far, so I can't make a fair judgement. They look alright... not quite as "meaty" as I'd hoped, but meaty and high treadwear ratings don't exactly go hand-in-hand. As I said before, I'll put a few thousand miles on and give a write-up.
