Car vibrates when idleing

I recently replaced the motor in my 1999 Escort 2.0 engine. The car vibrates some, but not a lot when parked. You can feel it in the steering wheel. When driving, you can't feel the vibration. The car runs very well. Could this be something to do with the top motor support mount? Not a big issue, but annoying.

The motor mounts are notorious for failing. There's a tsb from Ford on this. Also check the bolts that hold the steering column. Mine had worked loose and made the vibration a lot worse in the steering wheel.

Re: Car vibrates when idleing

Improved vibration on my 97 by loosening all the tranny mounts, jacking up the engine and tranny with a board under the pan and tightening them to 70 lbs. then let the jack back down. It neutralized the vibration. Try it, you'll like it.

Re: Car vibrates when idleing

I agree with Davescort97. I did this as well and virtually eliminated it.

Sorry dude.........I work for a Ford franchise and I have seen many that were broken. You may have a valid point about the placement though.

Re: Car vibrates when idleing

i agree with todd about the front and rear trans mounts are a recurring problem. there is a tsb that recomends tossing the spacers and enlongating the holes on the rear mount slightly. i have done it to a few ,it works
