01 service engine light on

I have a 01 Grand AM SE 4cyl. The service engine light has been on from time to time in the 2 years I've had it. Sometimes it's on for a week then goes off for a few days, then back on for a while. When it's on, it idles a little rough, and very loud ticking is heard. I have had it checked and there is a miss in one of the cylinders. They changed the coil and nothing changed. Then I change all the plugs and the short wires, and still nothing . I've basically payed $250 for plugs and wires and have given up. Some have said maybe something as simple as a vaccum hose. I am trying to sell it, but it's kinda hard to sell with warning lights on! Any suggestions as to what this might be.

Re: 01 service engine light on

Iam replying to my own message above. It is actually the service VEHICLE soon light, not service ENGINE light that comes on.

Re: 01 service engine light on

the only way to know for sure is to get it scaned with a scan tool!

The svs can be on for several reasons.
Even a headlamp out can throw the light.

Welcome to AF.
