1990 325I ?s

Hello all.

I have been searching for a 89 to 91 325I/IS for some time now.
I recently took one to a Mechanic to look at and he made the following observations. He noticed a "light noise" coming from the differential.
He also noted the Rear trans seal was "seeping" oil and the rear trans mount is oil soaked. I asked the mechanic for input and or advise on the purchase (price, etc) but was not able to provide any, so I thought I would share my experience with the forum and see if anyone had any advice. Some more info, when I discussed the findings with the owner he mentioned that the rear oil leak (seeping) was partialy due to the fact the trany runs a thinner fluid. I could of swore he said "ATF" but is't that Automatic fluid (car was manual)? He was asking 6k($us), I got him down to 5.1k before the inspection. He said he would not drop his price any further. Any advice would be appreciated. The car was pretty clean otherwise.
