2000 Camaro VATS Problem?

Car will not crank. Have already checked the starter, solenoid, starter relay, battery, fuses, neutral safety switch. Could this be a possible VATS problem? Security light flashes when key is turned to start position. Is there anyway to bypass the VATS?

Re: 2000 Camaro VATS Problem?

There is.

Your problem is either the key or the tumbler.
Mine was the tumbler.

You need to figure out the resistance of the key first.
Then you need to get an ohm resistor matching the key.

It will go inline with a wire under the dash.
I can't remember which one it is off the top of my head, and don't have the pics from when I did it. Search LS1tech maybe...I am sure someone has pics.

Or you could pay the dealer to fix it.

Re: 2000 Camaro VATS Problem?

.887 is key #4. if you dont wanna bypass the VATS you're gonna have to go to the dealer and shell out $30 for a new key. they check you VIN and determine the key from there.

Re: 2000 Camaro VATS Problem?

I measured the key ohm and it is .887 which is key #4, I could not find the resistor to match at radio shack. Any ideas on where to obtain the resistor. Or can I just get enough to add up to .887?
