Spur poor running problem

I have an 83 Spur in excellent condition with a poor running problem. It wants to stall when you step on the gas. I can elliminate this problem by running the mixture very rich but this greatly reduces the power. Any chance this is the warm up regulator or the fuel pressure. I have basically tried everything else.............Bill
