How much of a difference do front mounts make. I understand they have a better ability cool the air, but I mean there are other side mounts that are pretty big like the one hahn makes. And plus how much hotter would the engine get because a front mout blocks all airways to the raidiator. How much horsepower difference really is there??

Re: smic vs fmic
Front mounts don't block the air to the rad, at least it didn't on mine. I can tell you exactly how much it took off. It took .5 seconds on my ET.

Re: smic vs fmic
I have only ever heard one time when a front mount intercooler made the car run hotter. I have a pretty big front mount and my car did not run hotter or at least that I could tell because of it.

Re: smic vs fmic
I still have that bar you are talking about. I just pushed it back and bent the brackets a little bit so it fits between my radiator and the fmic. I still have no problem at all with running hot. Well other than the blown headgasket but the fmic had nothing to do with that.

Re: smic vs fmic
No i'm talking about the radiator like thing for the a/c the thing you're talking about is for cooling the power steering fluid.

Re: smic vs fmic
Get a FMIC. SMIC are worthless IMO. If you have the AC thing, an oil cooler, and a 3.5" thick IC without proper ducting you may over heat but if you have a thinner IC and do a little simple ducting you will be fine.
