Looking for a replacement Metro :-(
Wa involved in a head on collision... My car is totalled. Bent the uniframe on the drivers side, radiator, a/c, airbags, fenders, hood, bumper... it's a complete loss. I've been putting work into this car for the last 18 months and dont want to scrap it. I'm going to strip it clean... rotors, brake pads, calipers, wheels, tires, windshield, window regulators, engine, tranny (brand new Swift GT clutch and flywheel), EVERYTHING and have an inventory of spart parts on hand for my next metro.
Anyone have a 3cyl 2dr forsale? Looking for a 1995.. Mine's a 96 but would prefer a 95. I live in Massachusetts but if the car and price are right, I'll travel up to a 400-500 miles to get something. I've been checking the local classifieds but can't find anything matching what I'm looking for. Even if you've got a clean shell, I might be interested. Thanks! Scott |

Re: Looking for a replacement Metro :-(
Here in Spokane, Wa on the opposite side of the country, we have a small,
free, give-away "paper" in all the grocery stores by the real estate racks. It is called "The Nickel Nik" and is just a rather thick cheap booklet of want ads. Comes out every Friday. These guys also put out a Used Car booklet with pictures. Costs $20 to have a small ad with one photogarph. My point is - if you have such a thing in your area, you would be amazed at how many people read thru them and how far they get distributed ! I have put "WANTED - etc etc" ads in the want-ad booklet for maybe $8 a week and I get an amazing number of calls. Try something like: WANTED - used Geo Metro 1994-6 reasonable miles, no junkers Will pay cash money call 111-222-3333 after 6 PM I bought my wife's Geo Tracker that way from a WANT ad. Some guy called ME ! Him and his wife needed money so they sold HER tracker for $1,800. Mint condition! My wife loves that vehicle! Note the color....Arrgh! Now what is really nice is that the owner calls YOU and the item is not up for sale - so no one else is bidding on it or maybe getting there before you get there.... So he wants to sell it and you want to buy one. You can then make an offer and "dicker" over the price without competition. Here is the trick - have the cash in $50 bills and tell them that you have four other cars to look at today (in other words - Lie like a dog!), make an offer that is a bit low and you would be amazed at how the price might come down. Also complain about any nicks and upolstery boogers and anything you can.... Make them think you might just leave any minute..... Nice, huh? A penny saved is a penny you can spend on Beer and Cigars. Re: Looking for a replacement Metro :-(
Here there are free online classifieds run by a TV news channel. I know someone who recieved far more inquiries from her free online advertising than from Auto Trader.
