Question What's the best way to use/apply Meguiar's Cleaner wax and detailer spray?

There was an ad for these two products at 3 bux each so I bought them and picked up 6 terry cloth 100% cotton towels.
The detailer spray is the black one that says gold class 24 oz., smells awsome and sprays a very very fine mist (so it's not the trim one, it's for exterior). The cleaner wax is the light brownish red one with applicator.
Anyways, before I would just clean my car with armorall concentrated carwash cleaner and then wax it with turtlewax liquid carnuba.
Now after about a year I noticed waxing the car doesn't help much and the paint seems much harder to clean. I live in NYC and my car is always parked outside, and unfortunately under trees (now I try hard to find a spot with no trees).
The directions on the detailer spray says you can apply it between washing and waxing and between waxes. So you apply it after you wash and dry your car or after you wax for an extra coat? I tried it today on my trunk and it does a great job of cleaning, it seems very gentle and leaves a clean slippery non-oily feeling behind so I'm guessing it's for after washing but safe on wax if you need to clean your car again.
I read that the cleaner wax is basically meant to do what its title says -to clean. So are these good steps?
1. wash & dry
2. Use detailer
3. use cleaner wax
4. buff
5. use the carnuba wax
6. buff
7. use detailer spray to clean bird shit if you need to.
8. After 3 months resume steps 1-6

Thanks for any help.

P.S Meguiar's recommends you apply the detailer spray on a part of your car, wipe with one side of towel, and then quicly dry with other, however, the pruduct and mist are so fine it cleans and dries quickly on first wipe, is that ok?
My car is a frost white 1995 Honda Accord.

Re: What's the best way to use/apply Meguiar's Cleaner wax and detailer spray?

I think you're going a little overboard with the steps. I would use the detail spray only in between waxes (if necessary). I personally use Zymol cleaner wax. Here's what I do:
1. Wash car
2. chamois most of the water off
3. apply wax with applicator or terry towel (one section at a time)
4. gently rub onto the surface (terry towel)
5. Buff off any excess wax with a clean microfiber towel

If I get bird poo, road grime, water spots, etc. on the vehicle through the week, I use the spray detailer. It really helps to maintain a nice shine. Of course some people wax more than others. I wax my car at least once a week, sometimes more. If you find that you don't like Meguiars, try the Zymol cleaner wax in the blue bottle. It's expensive but works GREAT!
Good Luck

Here's my car after a wax

Rightwing, your process is fine. Just take out step 2. It's not necessary.

I guess I'll agree with detail lover. Your step 2 is something that should be done between waxes to maintain shine.

Re: What's the best way to use/apply Meguiar's Cleaner wax and detailer spray?

OK thanks. But I did notice the detailer spray removed oil finger stains from the hood the car wash left fogged. Can't be placebo can it? And I did use the carnuba wax after the cleaner wax and it does a better job of keeping the surface nice and slippery. I tried the detailer spray after I buffed the cleaner wax and it seems to take the wax off. So I think you would need to wax that spot again after you used the detailer spray.
Anywho, I seriously need a good 600 dollar paint job and a garage, I don't know if just avoiding parking under trees will help.
My honda 95 accrod ex v6 has 117k miles on it, only rapairs I did in 7k miles was replacing both stabilizer link bolt assemblies due to wear (109$ w. labor), and I need to check the washer pump. You think it's worth getting the paint job done and buying some nice rims? I'm not use how long it'll last though I do treat it good.
