Hi couple questions...AC

Hi there you guys.. well as know iv purchased the z24 with the ecotec... got the top plates changed the the table bushings and, now it run very smooth but, im still having that problem with the temperature. Today it was not to hot just right and, the temperature went way over the half..like 3 lines over.. I really dont think this is normal for a 2002 cavy with 48,000 kms as millage(i didnt hear the fan going on). I also noticed that my AC was working ok but, now I tried it again and, its not giving cold air, just normal air.. I hear it working..but, there is no water droping to the floor ... What can these 2 problems be ??? Gawd I love my car but, now its giving me problems

Help!!

Re: Hi couple questions...AC

charge your AC maybe? I don't know, mines a 99 and she runs a little hotter then I'd like her to. A five minute trip to work puts her about 1/2. An hour trip to "the big city" and back she'll go up to about 5/8 and if I stop, she'll kick up to 3/4 and my fan will come on.... I dunno if that's normal, but does yours usually run about like that?

Re: Hi couple questions...AC

what do you mean by 'charge you AC?'... and, yes well today it went pretty high.. like 2 lines past the half way... my gage starts at 40 celcius and, goes upto 125... it was over 90.. 2 lines past the 90.. I think it could be the fan censure... Im bringing it in on Tuesday morning....

tonight my AC was working fine... wtf// the car is like new and its giving me this shit..

does that mean my AC is empty.... is it normal.. is it leaking ????

Re: Hi couple questions...AC

WAIT on the a/c charging, either take it to a professional or contact MT-2500 and send him a Private message telling him your ac problem, *here*, he knows alll about ac systems.

And secondly, it doesn't matter how new your car is, it's going to have problems.

Freeon has been banned from use in automobiles, you need to look for R134a. One at my work are like 20 bucks for the bottle and gauge.

Got your private mail.
But can not help untill you have more information and it is checked out.
If the AC fails to turn on the tempt gauge will go over farther before rad fan kicks on.
Tempt will go to or over 220 degrees before fan kicks in without ac on or running.
When ac is running right the fan will run while it is on and hold tempt at thermostat degrees or around 195-200 degrees.
When you take it in have them check for low AC charge and proper rad fan operation.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
And ask for the low and high side AC pressure reading at idle and at 2000 RPM and post back readings.
MT
Also say no to them.
Wal Mart DEATH KITS

You cannot properly and safely recharge an air condition system with them.

The one side stop and go gauge does not tell you what your system is doing or is over charged or undercharged.
A overcharged or malfunction air condition system can reach over 500 lbs of pressure.
Enough to blow up that can or system and freeze you at first and the burn you or blind you and if any propane /butane in there blow and light you up.

The stop leak crap and who knows what kind of oil in the kits there will stop your system for sure.
Just like pouring super glue in it.
And some kits even contain freon with a butane mixer.
Good for a big blast.

If you are going to do it do it right and safe.
Here is what you need to start with.
http://www.ackits.com/merchant2/merc...uct_Code=66773

In the older days you could just throw in a can and go.
But over the years just adding freon is getting harder to do.
Newer systems have to have the correct amount of freon down to the ounces.
Most will need pumped down and vacuumed down and the right and amount of oil and a set amount freon charge installed to get the air to cool right and the system to last.
If an air condition is low there is usually a leak that needs fixed and also a lose of lubricating oil from system.
Also air and moisture enters a low system
If you are going to try to do it get the proper type air condition gauge set with the low and high side gauges.
Hook up the gauges and get a reading with compressor running at idle and at 2000 rpm on the high and low side.
Post back pressure reading and we can help you.

Freon or trade mark of R-12 has not been banned.
Production is supposed to have banned but not even sure of that with all of the import stuff out there.

But with R-134a now selling for under 3.00 $ us a lb
R-134a looks real good.

I also mentionned to the guy that my AC was faulting.. and, so he told me to go back cuz he was busy with other cars... eyyy...I tell ya somtimes. But, its gunny tho cuz now my AC works fine.... maybe it was connected with the engine temp going to hi.. B0o.. somthings I dont know..

aside from that, got my insurance policy today and, its costing me 1144.00$ yearly.. full coverage.. in Canadian money that is.. How does that sound, am I being ripped-off ??
