Vibration only under heavy acceleration?

Hi all, I've got a q. I have a '99 Cherokee Sport 4x4 4.0 auto. I've noticed for the last 30k miles or so that under heavy acceleration from a dead stop, or from 5-10mph that I get a vibration throughout the jeep and can hear something as well. It feels just like a U-Joint going bad, however it only happens under heavy acceleration. Any idea's? I've also got a "dragging"/cracking sound coming from my front drivers side tire in 4x4, but I believe that to be a u-joint on the axle.... get that changed, the brakes, the oil, all the tranny., t-case, gearing lubes changed.... ugghh!!

Do you have a lift on your Rig? i have a 96 with a 2 inch lift and i had the same issue.... put a T-case spacer kit on it and solved the problem

No lift on it.. it's 100% stock. I don't think it's the tires... can't really remember if it did on the old tires or not.

Let me tell you my story maybe it will help you. I just went thru the same issue (1995 GCH Limited FT4WD 5.2L V8 ). Now I realize mine is older but all jeeps are designed on the same foundation from about 2004 back. After replacing a left front tie rod end, axle,ball joint, and new tires. I still noticed the vibration you are discribing to the point that on the highway my seats would vibrate. Question for ya. Does your jeep seem like it is starting hard? Next: The wierd noise on turns is not always an axle. How about sluggish accelleration? Solution: Have you motor mounts inspected and front shocks as well. The prevoius owner on my jeep never changed the shocks from date of birth and after 165k miles there was nothing absorbing the stress on the front end. This forced me to add the engine mounts and shocks to my repair list. After all was said and done this 11 year old jeep feels like a new truck. What was causing the vibration WAS blown engine mounts every time I was on a tight turn the engine would lift a drop on the frame some times repeatedly: I thought it was the axle too. My son had the same problem on his Cherokee, it was the right motor mount the bolts were broken on the engine

On my 1996 XJ after a 2" lift the vibration turned out to be one of the parking brakes cables rubbing against the body, You will be able to see the new mark under your car. I glued a piece of rubber between the cable and the body/chassis and took care of the problem. Again mine was not really a vibration it sounded more like tires rubbing but it was not the tires. Hope this help some of you guys out there.
