Arii S130 280ZX vs Fujimi S130 280ZX?

I'm trying to decide which of the two kits mentioned in the title to buy. Fujimi's seems to have aftermarket bodywork, Arii's is straight standard. I think perhaps the Fujimi one is a little extreme in its front end treatment?
Unfortunately I can't find good pictures of either body.
Can anyone give me some idea which one will have better body proportions? Either way I'll have to fabricate stuff (de-modify Fujimi, tweak up the Arii), but I'm after the better base.

Problem is, 7th Skyline, you're looking on the wrong side of the Pacific for the best 280ZX tooling. The best kit of a Datsun 280ZX came out of Dyersville, Iowa.

Meaning, forget the archaic Arii and Fujimi motorized tooling. Buy the superior, fully detailed, AMT/Ertl 280ZX kit.

Although it was motorized as well (and also long out of production), Tamiya also made a very accurate version. You will probably have a better chance finding the AMT though.

Ok, excellent; can it be built right hand drive? And it would be 1/25 not 1/24? Although the scale probably doesn't matter, if anything it will just make the aoshima stretchwalls look bigger in diameter, no bad thing..

It is 1:25th scale and there is no provision for RHD in the AMT kit.

And MidMazar, the Z432R was a special homologation model of the 240Z produced with fiberglass fenders, magnesium wheels, a stripped interior, and the 2.0L DOHC straight-six out of the first two generations of Skyline GTR.

7th_skyline, I recently purchased two 280zx kits as I want to recreate my daily driver. I purchased both the Arii kit as well as the Tamiya kit.

The Arii kit is a shocking. I've been test fitting it of late, and nothing fits properly with out a lot of sanding and the detail is on the low side. That said, it will become a copy of the Paul Newman/Bob Sharp race car when I'm done.

The Tamiya kit is a different story. I warn you now.... It will cost a bit. I payed a fortune for it, but then again I really wanted a great kit... and well.... Tamiya delivered. It has fantastic engine detail (although you will have to cut the bonnet out). The detail is far more accurate than the Arii kit, especially the interior (the Arii kit has little to no interior detail), and the proportions seem more inline with the real car.

I can't comment on the Fujimi kit, as I haven’t got it, but it didn't really excite me so I decide to pay a little more for the Tamiya kit.

Also the Fujimi kit looks like it is a slick top, the Arii kit has mold lines for the targa and (as you can see in the photos) the tamiya kit has the targa’s in pieces and you have to put them on… if you wish…

Heres another vote for the Tamiya. Its harder to find but a great kit and worth the extra $$$.

Fujimi's Touge 280ZX has the hatch cut out, where you put an insert in (kind of like a mid-engine Ferrari). You'll need to scratch build a new hatch if you want to do a stock version.

Oh really? thats lame as. A few of their other hatchback kits have additional inserts to do that, but ahh well, thats out for sure.

your stuck using the Tamiya kit if you want to use Aoshima strechwalls. the wheel opening is the AMT kit are skinny. and would require alot of scratchbuilding on the interior tub and inner front fenders to get them to fit.

with that said I feel the AMT kit is the nicest of the bunch, its full detail, and can be found for about $10 - $20, I wish AMT would reissue some of there Matchbox (Lesney) era kits. like the VW Rabbit, the Brat, and the Datsun they are very good kits
