Odd high-load lighting problem..

I was driving down the road tonight like always when I kicked on my brights then BAM, I momentarily lost all power(half a second or so). So I tapped on my fog lights and it happened again. Fearing I'd already lost my alternator, I turned off all unneeded devices, and even unhooked a headlight to conserve power. Hey I had a 40 mile trip and I was the only car on the road during the whole trip, in B.F.E. Anywho, I get to the house, shut it off and get my DVOM out and I have 12.6volts at the cig. lighter(We have a bad mosquito problem..) I start it up, and get 14.1volts until it settles at 13.8volts. I kick on the lights again and it drops out again, but regains 14volts immediately. I'm assuming I have a loose connection, but I'd like to hear other possibilities.. I'll check it out in the morning, b/c if I went out now, the skeeters would have me sucked dry in 30 flat..
