97 monte 3.1L
My 97 monte keeps stalling. It starts, but it seems the idle is "searching". From 800 RPM to 500 RPM. When driving, rolling to a stop, it will hesitate, then quit. New injectors 1000 miles ago...Reform gas in Milwaukee, WI.
Only 53000 miles... Gus... |

Re: 97 monte 3.1L
Replace your Ignition control module.
Tell me how it goes.

Re: 97 monte 3.1L
Try removing the IAC valve from the throttle body and cleaning the pintle and the bore it rides in

Re: 97 monte 3.1L
Where is this idle air control valve located? Do I need a replacement gasket right away or can I use the old one? What type of cleaning solution can I use?
Thanks... |

Re: 97 monte 3.1L
The IAC vavle is in the throttle body. It is mounted to the TB with 2 screws. There are basicall two sensors ont the TB. One is the TPS (throttle position sensor) and the other is the IAC. When you unbolt the IAC, you will see a cone shaped pintle with a spring behind it. The best cleaner to use is Throttle body cleaner, but Carb cleaner will work in a pinch. Just make sure you let it evaporate before attempting to re-start.
