Talking 4th gen HB Si

well i might be pickin up a black hb si here in the next week or so cuz a met a guy who's gettin a new car and was just gonna junk it. i dont kno what year it is but looks like either a 90 or 91. the damage is really not that bad tho cuz it doesnt have the usual honda rust but has a messed up back bumper and dents in the body. the odometer says 195k on it and the d16a6 leaks oil. the main thing wrong with this car is the clutch/transmission, you practically have to kick the clutch pedal to get it in and it doesnt pop back out easily. so im gonna give him a couple hundred soon and hopefully have another 4th gen. i was sellin most of d16a6 parts from my old motor but i think im just gonna switch over the tranny and maybe install a new clutch so ill be good to go. its gonna be a good rebuild for me but what do you think i should replace while im changin the tranny? idk what is causing the oil leak but in my old one it was the head gasket so do you guys think i should put some new gaskets in to clear up the leak problem?

Re: 4th gen HB Si

still talkin to the guy about the hb and today at work a guy came and offered me his 95 gsr with 121k on it and 1000 bucks for my crx..dont think i want to trade but a newer car would be nice. insurance on it im sure is a pain so i think ill stick with the pocket rocket. but hes workin at the hotel too so if i ever want to trade i can.

what type r parts would work on the b18c1?

Re: 4th gen HB Si

Id take the GSR man, the insurance wont be all that different, our crx's show up as sports cars anyway..and the GSR has safety features which we lack, and would be less of a risk to insure...hell, you might even end up paying less. I am looking at integras and I like the idea of a nice interior.

I know what it feels like. You feel with all the time, money, and work you've put into your rex that you just cant stand to sell it and maybe lose a few bucks. If your really unhappy or if you've grown tired of your crx then pick up the GSR. All i can say i your crx is a lot funner and quicker than a GSR and IMO crx's have some pretty damn sexy interior. Oh and dont forget the sentimental value your crx has.

Re: 4th gen HB Si

HB was always better than the rex...didn't you see the poll

but i've had 5 4th gens...4 were hb's and have yet to have one more than a year...that kinda sux...but i loved my blue plastic and vinyl interior

and for that oil leak...try a gasket set and see if that works

Re: 4th gen HB Si

They are the same engine with minor refinements and part upgrades.

And Foosh, I know exactly how you feel, I have more time, blood, sweat and late nights in my car than I think I did my last year of High School, I cant let her go that easy. Like today, I just got a new stereo and am 1/2 way through installing a viper 791VX Alarm system. These cars become a spouse of sorts.

I've had people ask me to buy my car in the strangest places and they are always complete strangers, lol. They aren't the most comfortable on the highway and the damned center console always makes the back of my calf ache. But just like my girlfriend - I sometimes get pissed of and annoyed....but the thought of someone else touching or driving her feels worse, lol

Re: 4th gen HB Si

well i picked it up today for 200 bucks. got about 15 miles back and took off from a stoplight and the headgasket blew shiftin into 2nd..my buddy behind me said i shot about a 4 foot flame out the back and i opened up the hood to find a small fire from the oil spraying out. i put out the fire with my hat lol and it didnt roast thru any wires. i knew i was gonna have to change the head gaskets soon but damn why when i just got it lol oh well

im still happy with my purchase tho im ready to learn about internals. ill get you guys some photos tonight after i get back from my parents where its gettin towed to.

Re: 4th gen HB Si

theres the only pic i could get of it tonight. its not the best but i got back after dark and then my batteries died. im goin home tomorrow after i get out of court to start rippin apart the head and take more pictures. im gonna end up sellin it probly in the spring or early summer next year. ive got all the parts layin around to fix it so im really spending nothin on the car besides fluids and gaskets. and maybe a few other goodies.
