Re: gear/shift indicator light

What year is your LS, and does it have the Select Shift Transmission? I don't think V-6 or V-8 matters, but it is still a good idea to include that info as well.

It's an 04V6, doesn't have a select shift

Re: gear/shift indicator light

Try to access the bulb by removing the trim panel over the gear shift lever. Per the service manual for the 2004, this involves:
  1. Pull upward from the front of the trim panel to release the retainers.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
If you cannot reach the bulb holders from there, then you will need to remove the center console assembly. For those instructions, send me a private message with an e-mail address for you that can accept attachments.

Re: gear/shift indicator light

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. If equipped with a manual transmission, place the selector lever in fourth gear.
  3. If equipped with an automatic transmission, place the selector lever in neutral.
  4. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
  5. Remove the ashtray finish panel.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  6. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the gearshift lever knob.
  7. If equipped, disconnect the cellular phone electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the console finish panel assembly by pulling upward from the front first.
    • If equipped, disconnect the traction control switch electrical connector.
    • If equipped, release the cellular phone wiring harness from the console finish panel assembly.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
