update on my camaro situation

I will be finishing my camaro this weekend.

I've been dragging my feet, weighing out my options for getting a new engine, trying to figure out the best deal... but it looks like I have to buck up, and just buy one.

I got a warning for having a non-working car in the driveway. Buncha crap. It has a tag which I thought would protect me, from this garabage but apparently if the engine is out it can't be in the driveway. So now I have 15 days to get my camaro running or I'm going to be facing some fines...

for the record I got two warnings, one for my camaro (engine out), and one for my brothers corvette (running, no tag.)

Re: update on my camaro situation

Thats kinda dumb that you can be ticketed for that, but what can you do.

I got that kinda crap from the new people who moved across the street from me, when me and my dad put the top end(valve covers, intake, carb, radiator and few misc things) back on my caprice, took us a weekend. they had been here for less than a week and aleready bitching at me for FIXING my car.

but anyways, good luck with your engine!

Umm, who gave you the fines? A driveway is private property

Im sure its just there because people dont like to see engines out..

I'd shove the car or atleas the front end into the garage, if you dont have a garage, get a freaking HUGE box and work in there.. that will get them off your back.

no fines yet. Apparently its a county code. I'm not really complaining, I'm glad we have the law I certainly don't want my neighbor having a junk yard in his front lawn, but at the same time its kinda rediculous that my car has a tag and if you were driving past its too far away from the road to tell the engine is out.

my brother's vette though I can understand since it doesn't have a tag... but a '76 sting ray is a peice of art.

I have a two car garage, one half has all my tools and machines, and also my engine and the hoist, and all that good stuff. The other side is where my mom parks her 2004 corvette, but I guess we are gonna put the '76 vette in there since it can't be outside anymore either.

The worst part is all I have to do is throw a stupid blue tarp over it and there isn't a thing they can do. I think having a tarp covering a car looks worse than the front end sticking a little bit up in the air.

Can I just say you're the luckiest person alive to have a family like that. My family's convoy consists of brand new hondas.

I got those before too . I hate stupid tickets like that . Anyway good luck with the car. I know how you feel, I was in the same boat a few years ago but it worked out very well . I would not be anywhere near where I am now without having to swap engines.

Re: update on my camaro situation

you would think that the cops (or other people for that matter) would have more important things to worry about. unless your property looks like a junk yard, they should not be able to give you any kind of a ticket. if these 2 vehicles were on the street, then thats a different story.
anyway, good luck with the swap stepho. we look forward to the vid.

Re: update on my camaro situation

I once got a 'notice' because I parked my Camaro on my lawn for about a week since my family was visiting and I couldnt park it on the street.

The notice says they will fine unless you move it, obviously.

Re: update on my camaro situation

Ok another update for you guys:

ITS ALIVE!!!!! I got the engine in yesterday and I finished hooking everything up today. I'm really impressed with my junkyard engine too! (I ended up getting the one from JnB John thanks a lot).

Engine runs good, no knocks or anything.

It was raining though and my wipers were shot so I couldn't really drive it much. Or make a video.

There is just one problem though, it seems to be misfiring. The plugs look good and the wires are new. There might be something wrong with the distributor, I don't know for certain.

I have a question though- is there a way to tell if the fuel injectors are wired up correctly? We marked them when we took them out, but it was misfiring before so it might have been wired up wrong before we started working on it.

Re: update on my camaro situation

Running a bit behind on this one but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard as far as fines go. I'm with Dyno (I guessed he changed his name) in that a driveway is private property and shouldn't be subject to public fines.

Cool that you got it in and running. Fix it and drive the hell out of it.
