Almost bought another DSM today....

It all started yesterday morning around 8:45am. I was at work sipping on a cup of coffee BS'ing with the receptionist when my inventory manager asked me if I knew why a 92 eclipse we took in for a dollar was in the wash bay behind the wash truck. I told him I didn't have a clue but would be happy to move it. I was thinking to myself, shit, a dollar this must be one huge piece of shit. I ran across Sprague over to our detail shop over in the Isuzu building and low and behold their was sitting a Black, perfect condition 92 GSX, manual transmission, sunroof, with 190,978 miles and all the maintenance records from Mitsu service department from 101k-171k in the glove box .

Once opening the door and noticing the orange viscous coupler warning sticker in the door jam I actually got a little light headed. I moved the GSX out of the wash bay, popped the hood.... un-mulested... Only aftermarket parts I noticed were blue NGK wires and an Alpine Alarm system. I drove it around for about 5 mins (ran great)and then parked it across the street to the wholesale line where it was suppose to be, locked it up and went directly into the General Managers office and told him I wanted it.. $100 over the ACV.. He told me we needed the title and down payment from the lady who traded it in and once we got it and there wasn't any hiccups It was mine..

So today I wait until 3pm for the lady to come in with her shit while I'm spending most of the day looking though all the service records, calling Mitsubishi for a vin check, talking to Cartoys about getting a remote for the Alpine alarm. Once she leaves I write it up, put it on the desk. My sales manager starts inputing all my info in the computer, and mutters "what the fuck, the ACV shows $1000, not $1...?.... I'm like haha, fuck you, not funny... I walk over to his screen and sure as shit.. Trade value is $1000.. I'm pretty pissed off about that point and call up my inventory manager on the phone and ask him if he remembers for 100% sure if the ACV was only a dollar. Well, come to find out the other car he had to tag and put an "AS IS" in the widow was a dollar, and this GSX was a $1000. After about 20 mins of cooling down I thought, fuck it, still a good deal, $100 over + tax & lic transfer only $1275ish.. So I take the car across the street wash it up, pressure wash the engine and let it sit idling in the detail shop for about 5 mins while I wash the windows to make sure I didn't get any water in the plugs and throw a misfire code.

I take the car out on Sprage and not 3 mins after getting it on the road the fucking car wont rev past 1500rpm's. So I sputter it back on Appleway back to my dealership, behind the tracks in the wholesale line and lock it up & threw the key back on the General managers desk and said "fuck it, must be a sign" and drove home... Not sure what I'm going to do...

Re: Almost bought another DSM today....

Definitely check that beast out before you just say fuck it. If it's in that nice of condition AND was owned by an old lady, it must be something simple thats wrong with it. 95% of cars that old people drive have been babied to hell and back and then they get a problem and want to get rid of it and the problem usually ends up being simple. And with all the knowledge of your other dsm, this *should* be an easy fix for you.

Re: Almost bought another DSM today....

Ahh... So I'm a little confused. Have you actually got it now or is the whole deal still up in the air?

Re: Almost bought another DSM today....

You probably just got water into the MAS. I'd let the car sit overnight and try it in the morning.

Thats one reason I'm not a fan of pressure washing the engine bay. Can fuck some shit up easily. Make sure some plugs on the harness didnt get loose.

Re: Almost bought another DSM today....

It's no doubt becasue of the pressure washer. It spits 135deg water out from the desial burner. It the CAS, nothing else would make sence. I wanted it when I thought it was going to cost me $181 out the door. I've pretty much talked myself out of the car now that it will cost me $1275. This is what it looks like... It's fucking CLEAN

I'd buy it, but you wouldn't Edmund, and if you did, you'd just bitch about how it breaks down all the time and then probably just sell it right away.
