I have two lights out in the instument cluster in my 93 Tauras wagon. How does the cover come off to access these lights. Thanks for the help

Re: replace dashboard lights
Hopefully someone who's done this recently will chime in. My recall is there are a couple of screws above the bezel that you need to remove to get the trim piece off. Then you remove the screws around the instrument cluster and slowly wiggle it out. There will be a couple of connectors plugged in to the back side of the cluster that you will need to release and I believe a speedometer cable that you will need to disconnect too. I don't think you need to reach around from underneath the dash to release the speedo cable, but you may need to. Once you have the cluster in your lap, there are bulb holders twisted into the cluster on the back side. A quarter twist removes them and the bulbs pull out of the holders.

Re: replace dashboard lights
Also be sure to disconnect the shift indicator cable. If ot the little string will break and you will need a new one. Other than that, Rod has it pretty well nailed.

Re: replace dashboard lights
Oh yeah, I suppose the wagon would have the column shift. I'm used to floor shift models. The only Taurii I've owned have been SHO's.
